Its primary objective is to reduce textile waste generation and accelerate the transition towards a circular economy for the textile sector.  <\/p>\n<p>With this designation, CalRecycle has entrusted Landbell USA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation, with developing and implementing the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system across the state of California. <\/p>\n<h2>Advancing Circularity and Textile EPR in the USA<\/h2>\n<p>As the designated <strong>PRO<\/strong>, Landbell USA will be responsible for coordinating the management of the EPR system for textile products covered by the legislation and placed on the California market.<\/p>\n<p>One of its key responsibilities will be the development of a Producer Responsibility Plan aimed at reducing textile waste and extending product lifespans. To achieve these objectives, several industry-wide initiatives will be introduced, including:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consumer education and awareness programmes.<\/li>\n<li>Investment in local repair infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>Active promotion of textile product reuse.<\/li>\n<li>Improvements to separate collection and recycling systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Patrick Gibbs, Head of Textiles at Landbell USA, stated:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00abWe are honoured to take on this historic responsibility. California is setting a global benchmark for textile sustainability. Our goal is to develop an effective and transparent system that enables producers to finance the responsible management of the products they place on the market.\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Key Deadlines Under the Textile Waste Legislation<\/h2>\n<p>In accordance with the requirements established in the California Public Resources Code, Landbell USA will immediately begin several key activities.<\/p>\n<p>First, it will conduct an assessment of the existing infrastructure for textile waste collection and management across California. The objective is to identify urgent needs and opportunities for improvement throughout the state. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, important compliance deadlines have already been established. Producers of textile products falling within the scope of the legislation <strong>must register with the PRO before 1 July 2026<\/strong> to ensure full compliance with the obligations set out in the law.  <\/p>\n<h2>Governance, Transparency and the Support of Landbell Group<\/h2>\n<p>Landbell USA\u2019s activities will be overseen by a representative board of directors comprising producers of different sizes and categories from across the fashion and textile industry. <\/p>\n<p>The organisation will also conduct annual financial audits and submit regular reports to CalRecycle to ensure transparency and monitor progress towards the programme\u2019s recycling and recovery objectives. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>John Hayes, President of Landbell USA, commented:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00abThis designation represents a significant milestone for the industry.
